A much better extension was added in 1962. In order to get to it an upstairs English classroom had to be shortened and space was made for a corridor where the class used to be. If you look you can see the join. More
In 1932 a new block was built to match the cheaper side of the 1911 building. To do this they had to build a big parapet foundation to make the new block the same height as the 1911 extension. More
Today I read a few interesting facts. At the weekend Man United will play their 4000th consecutive game with a home-grown talent in their match day squad, a record dating back to 1937. A Conservative MP will represent Leigh (in Greater Manchester) for the first time since the constituency was formed in 1887. More
The new buildings required the demolition of the Round Chemistry building and they had to be attached to the end wall of the old school main schoolroom. They had a problem as they had to match the brickwork of the 1849 building. More
I was at Sandbach School for 37 years and have worked with a lot of staff, some of whom had worked at the school for many years before I came. Some went to the school as pupils. They have pointed out bits of the school’s history to me over the years which I would have otherwise missed. More

To help launch our new website, Headteacher Sarah Burns spoke to Ryan Grant. Sarah has seen some significant changes to Sandbach School during her time as Headteacher. Now into her 12th year in the role, she’s been explaining that despite preparing students for modern-day education, the school has retained the long-standing values upheld by pupils and staff alike for decades. Our third visit to the RAF club promises to be our best yet. This wonderful opportunity to meet old friends and share memories of our common heritage. As well as Head Teacher Sarah Burns and members of her leadership team, we will this year have a special guest speaker. More
