On Saturday March 2nd, 2024, the Old Sandbachians’ Association were delighted to be matchball sponsors for the game at Bradwall Road against Northwich in Regional 1 North West.
This was a vital match, as Sandbach were languishing at the foot of the table. A victory was needed – and the match was won conclusively.
Whilst we’d love to say that this was down to the good fortune brought by the OSA in sponsoring the matchball, the reality is that is was down to the sheer hard work of the players and coaching staff. Indulge us our fantasy for a little while though….
A great turnout for a fantastic lunch ahead of watching the match. We were also honoured to be joined by the Headteacher of Sandbach School, Mrs Sarah Burns, and her husband Scott.
We already sponsor the scoreboard at Bradwall Road, jointly with the school, and we are looking to make these matchball days an annual event. If you’ve never joined us for one – make sure you’re at the next one. The Rugby Club are fantastic hosts and if you’ve never been, the food is amazing!
A great time was had by all. We’d like to thank Sandbach RUFC for their warm welcome, and also all of our guests for attending and making the event the memorable day it was.

A very nice touch in the matchday programme was the addition of a small red “O.S” icon (standing for Old Sandbachian), next to the names of each player who is also an old boy of Sandbach School. We really appreciated this gesture, and as you can see, it’s most of the team! A reminder of the strong bond between the school, the rugby club and the Old Sandbachians’ Association.
